Spectol S2
The faster Spectol — same short-pip job as S1, more speed on this index, not a hardness letter on S1.

About Spectol S2
Spectol S2 (Combined speed 90, spin 56, control 80, 35°) hits harder than S1 on paper. S3 is the 2023 step. Red is another family member. Thicknesses 1.7 / 1.9 / 2.1.
If you are leaving inverted, start on S1 unless a coach already timed you on S2. Hexer Pips is the German alternative.
Short pips still give up inverted push and loop. Do not buy S2 as a ‘faster inverted’.

Factory thicknesses
Factory sponge thicknesses: 1.7, 1.9, 2.1. On pips and anti, thickness changes reversal and speed more than a one-point Combined gap.
- 1.7
- 1.9
- 2.1
- 1.7
- A hitting thickness on short pips. Close-to-table punch rather than a looping sponge.
- 1.9
- Short-pips mid-thick sponge. Blocks and hits; still not an inverted loop sheet.
- 2.1
- The thick short-pips option when the sheet is sold that way. Still a pips-out job.
