About Spectol Red

Spectol Red uses classic (non-tensor) sponge with longer dwell and a more linear feel and a pips-out topsheet. Manufacturer sponge hardness is 35° (Classic); a cut sheet is about 42 g. Factory sponge thicknesses: 1.8, 1.9, 2.0, 2.1, MAX. Spectol is Victas/TSP's classic short-pips line, including Spectol S1 and Spectol 21.

On the TableTennisReview 0–100 index the Combined figures are speed 90, spin 52 and control 80 (official mapping 89 / 52 / 79). That is a high-speed short pips profile for offensive close-to-table and mid-distance topspin. Hardness, weight and thickness above are factory facts — not lab tests.

Community score 8.6 / 10 from 160 reviews. Indicative European street price €36. Compare Spectol Red with other Victas Spectol and short pips rubbers on the same scale, or open the catalogue filters for OFF short pips sheets.

Factory thicknesses

Factory sponge thicknesses: 1.8, 1.9, 2.0, 2.1, MAX. On pips and anti, thickness changes reversal and speed more than a one-point Combined gap.

  • MAX
1.8
Short-pips attacking sponge, or a thick anti. Not the same job as inverted 1.8.
1.9
Short-pips mid-thick sponge. Blocks and hits; still not an inverted loop sheet.
2.0
Thick short-pips sponge. More speed on a hit, less of the classic short-pip deadness.
2.1
The thick short-pips option when the sheet is sold that way. Still a pips-out job.
MAX
Thickest short-pips sponge the factory lists. Catapult of a tensor, geometry of pips — not inverted MAX.
