Tenergy or Dignics
Same brand, different sponge generation. 05 geometry is the looping idea; Dignics changes the sponge, and 09C also changes the topsheet.
Stay in Tenergy if the throw is the point
Tenergy 05 (2008, 36° Spring Sponge) is still the high-throw reference. FX is the same topsheet, softer sponge. 64 and 80 change pimple geometry, not hardness. Hard is 43° on the 05 pimples.
If you already time 05 and the spare-sheet story matters, staying in Tenergy is cheaper than a Dignics pair and does not ask you to re-learn the first ball.
Dignics 05 is the numbered successor
Dignics 05 keeps the 05 pimple idea on denser Spring Sponge X at 40°. Combined spin sits with Tenergy 05; the felt difference is how much impact you need before the sponge opens, and a more linear finish when you hit through.
Coaches who say “move to Dignics without changing the throw” mean this sheet — not 09C. 09C is a different topsheet.
09C is the grip upgrade
Dignics 09C is stickier, 44°, two-wing common in the 2020s. It is not Hurricane. Combined spin is the highest in the Butterfly inverted wall; it still wants a proper brush.
A frequent split is 09C forehand and Dignics 05 or Tenergy 05 backhand. That is a habit, not physics. Street price sits at the top of the European inverted catalogue — try before you glue two wings.
