Guides/Tacky vs hybrid

Tacky vs hybrid

Hurricane, boost, or a hybrid

Three answers to “I want more grip than a German tensor”. Only one of them is a Chinese sponge, and only that one is typically boosted in Europe.

Unboosted numbers are honest; boosted numbers are not printed here

Hurricane 3 out of the pack is slow by tensor standards (Combined speed 80 commercial, 86 National). After booster it is the heavy-spin forehand Chinese national-team setups made famous. We list factory / unboosted Combined figures. We do not sell booster and we do not pretend boosted speed is on the sponge.

National is selection, usually orange sponge, not a different recipe. Commercial H3 is the sheet to learn brushing on. Skyline 3 is the milder DHS tacky sibling.

Hybrids you do not boost

Dignics 09C is Spring Sponge X with a stickier topsheet — Japanese High Tension, not a Chinese rubber. Tibhar Hybrid K3 and Donic BlueGrip C2 put tackier topsheets on tensor-ish sponge at German street prices.

None of those replaces a boosted National. They exist for players who want first-ball grip without a boosting calendar. If you already boost well, a hybrid will feel like a different sport.

A practical fork

Learn on commercial Hurricane 3 or Skyline 3. Pay for National only when the routine is already a habit. Pick 09C if your bag is Butterfly and you want grip out of the wrapper. Pick K3 or BlueGrip C2 if you shop German prices.

Forehand tacky / backhand tensor on inner ALC is a common European combination racket. Specs stay on each sheet — Setup lab will not average them.
