Clipper Wood vs Viscaria
Clipper Wood is a 7-ply all-wood OFF that has been sold new in Europe for decades. Viscaria is the 1993 outer-ALC template. Combined speed favours Viscaria; Clipper keeps more wood dwell and a lower street price.

This is not a fair “which is better” test. It is the fork between staying on wood and stepping into fibre. Coaches still start talented juniors on Clipper-class woods before Viscaria.
If Clipper already feels slow in your hand, Viscaria (or Innerforce Layer ALC) is the Butterfly step. If Viscaria felt metallic, Clipper is a valid step back, not a downgrade.

Verdict
Wood versus outer ALC. Clipper for dwell and price; Viscaria for the fibre kick the rest of the world copied.
