About Gewo table tennis equipment
GEWO (GEWO Sports / Contra Sport Tischtennis Service, Henstedt-Ulzburg, Germany) traces table tennis to 1956. The current catalogue is built for clubs: Nexxus EL Pro in multiple degrees, Inventus and Codexx tensors, and a practical blade wall including Aruna and balsa-carbon woods. The selling point is a complete hardness ladder at street prices below Butterfly and roughly with Xiom and Andro.
Nexxus EL Pro 48 / 50 / 53 is how most European retailers merchandise the brand — pick a degree, same recipe. That makes GEWO a common club-pack rubber: a team can order three hardnesses from one family. Inventus XT Pro and Iconixx Hybrid are the neighbouring current families. Blades stay mid-weight, mid-price, with fewer exotic fibre names than Victas or Butterfly.
Headquarters is Heidekoppel 26, 24558 Henstedt-Ulzburg. Official site: gewo-tt.com. Quadri Aruna is a long-running GEWO-sponsored attacker; Aruna woods in this catalogue are the club versions, not automatically the same batch a World Tour player uses. Factory figures are GEWO catalogue numbers mapped onto 0–100 here.
GEWO is value-performance, not the cheapest Chinese tensor. Nexxus competes with Andro Rasanter and Tibhar Evolution on feel, usually at a slightly lower street price. If a German club dealer says they can get “any Nexxus in a week”, this is the page that lists those sheets.
History of Gewo
GEWO’s table tennis line dates to 1956 in Germany. Contra Sport in Henstedt-Ulzburg is the current home of GEWO table tennis. Nexxus EL Pro’s degree ladder (48 / 50 / 53) is how German dealers merchandise the brand in the 2020s. Quadri Aruna has been a visible GEWO attacker.
How Gewo compares
Gewo Nexxus EL Pro 48/50/53 is merchandised like Andro Rasanter: same recipe, pick a degree. It competes with Evolution and Hexer on feel, usually slightly cheaper. Inventus and Codexx are neighbouring GEWO families. Not a budget Chinese tensor and not Butterfly tour pricing.

Club teams standardising on one rubber family, attackers who shop by degree, and players who want German tensor bounce without Evolution/Tenergy money.
Gewo FAQ
- What hardness is Gewo Nexxus EL Pro?
- It is a family, not one sheet. EL Pro is sold in several sponge degrees (commonly 48, 50, 53 in EU shops). Open the product page for the exact hardness and thicknesses.
- Is Gewo only budget equipment?
- Gewo is value-performance, not the cheapest Chinese tensor. Nexxus competes with Andro Rasanter and Tibhar Evolution on feel, usually at a slightly lower street price.
- Gewo Nexxus EL Pro 48 vs 50 vs 53?
- Same Nexxus EL Pro recipe at different sponge degrees. 48 is the common club hardness; 50 and 53 are stiffer and faster. German dealers treat it like Andro Rasanter: pick a degree, same family.
- Where is GEWO based?
- GEWO table tennis is based in Henstedt-Ulzburg, Germany (Heidekoppel 26). Official site gewo-tt.com. The table tennis line dates to 1956.
- Gewo Inventus vs Nexxus?
- Nexxus EL Pro is the hardness-ladder family (48/50/53) German dealers stock deepest. Inventus and Codexx/Iconixx are neighbouring tensor families. Compare on product pages; do not assume one recipe.

Factory speed, spin, control and hardness below are Gewo catalogue figures remapped onto TableTennisReview’s shared 0–100 index so a Gewo sheet can sit next to Butterfly, DHS or Tibhar without mixing scales. Only ITTF-approved versions stocked in European shops are listed.
