About HY-Q 42

Andro HY-Q 42 is a 2026 inverted (pimples-in) sheet made in Germany. It belongs to the HY-Q series, is ITTF-approved (code 03-068), and is aimed at allround-offensive (OFF−) players who want allround-offensive play that still needs a safety margin.

HY-Q 42 uses pre-tensioned tensor sponge with a catapult effect and relatively low dwell and a grippy, non-tacky topsheet typical of European tensors. Manufacturer sponge hardness is 42° (Tensor); a cut sheet is about 45 g. Factory sponge thicknesses: 1.8, 1.9, 2.0, 2.1, MAX. Sold with topsheet in Black and Red; sponge in orange.

On the TableTennisReview 0–100 index the Combined figures are speed 77, spin 86 and control 84 (official mapping 78 / 87 / 85). That is a control-first inverted profile for allround-offensive play that still needs a safety margin. Hardness, weight and thickness above are factory facts — not lab tests.

Community score 7.4 / 10 from 194 reviews. Indicative European street price €40. Compare HY-Q 42 with other Andro HY-Q and inverted rubbers on the same scale, or open the catalogue filters for OFF− inverted sheets.

Factory thicknesses

Factory sponge thicknesses sold in Europe: 1.8, 1.9, 2.0, 2.1, MAX. These are shopping facts — Combined speed / spin / control on this page do not change with thickness.

  • MAX
1.8
Thinner inverted sponge. Allround and first-upgrade backhands live here more often than attacking forehands.
1.9
The usual club backhand thickness on inverted tensors. A bit more control, a bit less catapult than 2.1 / MAX.
2.0
Mid-thick. Common on the backhand when MAX felt lively, or as a two-wing compromise.
2.1
Still a thick attacking sponge. A small step down from MAX on some tensors — shops treat it as the other FH thickness, not a control sheet.
MAX
Thickest factory sponge. Most catapult on a tensor; the usual attacking forehand. Combined figures on this page are for the SKU, not a separate MAX score.
