High-friction inverted from Butterfly aimed at choppers and combination bats. Slow, grippy, lots of backspin on the chop; not a looping rubber. A modern alternative to Tackiness Chop.

About Aibiss

Butterfly Aibiss is a 2013 inverted (pimples-in) sheet made in Japan. It belongs to the Aibiss series, is ITTF-approved (code 14-034), and is aimed at control allround (ALL−) players who want control-oriented allround and blocking.

Aibiss uses classic (non-tensor) sponge with longer dwell and a more linear feel and a tacky topsheet that grips the ball for spin-heavy loops. Manufacturer sponge hardness is 40° (Classic); a cut sheet is about 46 g. Factory sponge thicknesses: 1.8, 1.9, 2.0, 2.1, MAX. Sold with topsheet in Black and Red; sponge in green light.

On the TableTennisReview 0–100 index the Combined figures are speed 76, spin 88 and control 90 (official mapping 76 / 87 / 90). That is a control-first inverted profile for control-oriented allround and blocking. Hardness, weight and thickness above are factory facts — not lab tests.

Community score 8.3 / 10 from 210 reviews. Indicative European street price €45. Compare Aibiss with other Butterfly Aibiss and inverted rubbers on the same scale, or open the catalogue filters for ALL− inverted sheets.

Factory thicknesses

Factory sponge thicknesses sold in Europe: 1.8, 1.9, 2.0, 2.1, MAX. These are shopping facts — Combined speed / spin / control on this page do not change with thickness.

  • MAX
1.8
Thinner inverted sponge. Allround and first-upgrade backhands live here more often than attacking forehands.
1.9
The usual club backhand thickness on inverted tensors. A bit more control, a bit less catapult than 2.1 / MAX.
2.0
Mid-thick. Common on the backhand when MAX felt lively, or as a two-wing compromise.
2.1
Still a thick attacking sponge. A small step down from MAX on some tensors — shops treat it as the other FH thickness, not a control sheet.
MAX
Thickest factory sponge. Most catapult on a tensor; the usual attacking forehand. Combined figures on this page are for the SKU, not a separate MAX score.
