About Stiga table tennis equipment
STIGA Sports AB traces table tennis production to 1944 in Eskilstuna, Sweden (the Stig Hjelmqvist line). Head office and much blade manufacturing remain in Eskilstuna. Clipper Wood — a 7-ply all-wood OFF — is one of the longest-running competition blades still sold new in Europe. Allround Classic and the Azalea series cover the control side.
DNA is STIGA’s German-made tensor family (Platinum, Pro, Hybrid and hardness steps), the first time the Swedish wood brand had a modern tensor wall of its own. Carbonado 45 / 90 (with a distinctive carbon layup) and Infinity VPS V are the fibre offensive woods. Truls Möregårdh’s World Tour visibility has put STIGA blades back in photographs, but the club catalogue is still Clipper + DNA for most EU shops.
STIGA also sells a huge recreational-table business; this site only reviews competition rubbers and blades with factory specs. Prices sit mid-pack: woods are often cheaper than equivalent Japanese fibre, DNA competes with Andro Rasanter and Tibhar Evolution. DNA tensors are German-made; many competition blades are still Swedish-made — each product page lists made-in.
Clipper Wood is still a current blade, not a vintage reissue. Shop it as a 7-ply all-wood OFF by weight and handle, not only as a nostalgia name. Allround Classic remains a coaching default for European beginners who should not start on carbon.
History of Stiga
STIGA’s table tennis line begins in 1944 in Eskilstuna with Stig Hjelmqvist. Clipper Wood became one of the world’s longest-running 7-ply competition blades. DNA tensors (German-made) gave the Swedish wood brand a modern inverted wall. Truls Möregårdh’s 2020s results put STIGA back in World Tour photos.
How Stiga compares
STIGA Clipper Wood vs other 7-ply OFF woods, DNA Platinum/Pro/Hybrid vs Andro Rasanter and Tibhar Evolution, Carbonado vs Butterfly ALC/ZLC. DNA is German-made; Clipper is the Swedish wood identity. Recreational STIGA tables are out of scope here.
